Case Summary

Jesse arrested

Jesse Friedman Tells
His Story Here

In July 2010, the Federal Second Circuit Court of Appeals said there was "a reasonable likelihood" that Jesse Friedman was wrongfully convicted. In 1988 Jesse Friedman was coerced into pleading guilty to scores of incredible and imaginary crimes of child sexual abuse, and sentenced to 18 years in prison. In 2003, the Academy Award nominated documentary Capturing the Friedmans brought insight into this decades old case. New evidence and seven years of legal appeals, eventually lead to Kathleen Rice, and the Nassau County District Attorney's Office convening a panel of legal experts to oversee a re-investigation of Jesse Friedman's questionable arrest and conviction.
