Recent Events and a Personal Message from Jesse

After surpassing 50-year-old…  After 35 years of my life being a crime drama spectacle…  After struggling to survive 13 years in prison…  After being terrorized by parole and the constant threat of being sent back to prison…  After 17 years of appeals, motions, counter-motions, public appearances, lawyers, courts and judges followed by more courts and more judges holding my life hostage…  After two District Attorneys stepped on my back, trampling justice, and shredded the truth for political gain — one going on to become a U.S. Congresswoman; the other granted a lifetime appointment to the highest court in New York State…  I’ve had enough of talking about my arrest.  I will share here whatever random events or thoughts I feel compelled to share.

2021: I lost my darling Yorkshire Terrier Hannah. She died tragically from kidney failure after only seven years of chasing squirrels. She was my baby; my daughter; my PTSD support dog (and if you are familiar with Philip Pullman’s “His Dark Materials” then you’ll understand why I think of her as my dæmon).  Here is a tribute page to my love and my loss.

2022: Lisa and I are getting divorced. The terror and trauma of fighting the government prevented either of us from reaching a place of fulfillment or safety.  After a dozen years of marriage in a fox-hole Lisa had to get out.  In twelve months I buried Sundance the Cat (at the remarkable age of 19 years) Hannah, and lastly Penny, my darling yorkie-poo.  My family is gone now, and I am alone.

Lisa and I have been a part of a new film: A documentary exploring the experience of being a participant in a documentary.  It is simply called “Subject” – A film by Camilla Hall and Jennifer Tiexiera.  The film makers, and their on-screen participates, are challenging the documentary community to implement new standards for non-fiction narrative films.  We believe there should be cooperation between film makers and those they choose to focus their lenses upon. Exploitation of peoples’ stories for mass-entertainment is no longer acceptable. Ethical guidelines for documentary producers need to be adopted by the industry.

The movie will be streaming on Kanopy, and will be available VOD through all major streaming platforms.
